Steamy Routine Step by Step
-
Steam Towel
(*this routine is not meant for compromised skin or skin that should not be near heated water, please consult your Dermatologist or Doctor for medical advice)
Keeping your towel rolled tightly in a little burrito, wait until water is steamy, then soak, wring out, and unfold over your face and neck, this is the “Magic Moment” to take in the steamy, delicious darkness, and allow yourself to breathe. Remove the towel beginning at the forehead and wiping down each area of face to the neck and chest.
-
Cleanse, then Repeat Step 1 gently cleanse entire face and neck with circular, gentle massage, and then resteam your towel, using the opposite, clean side or a fresh towel if needed to repeat step one.
-
Finishing Products while skin is still damp and warm, apply serums, followed by concentrates and oils, mists and hydrators and moisturizers as directed by products.

What You Need
Hot Towel
Out with the wash cloth and in with the hand towel. The lush landscape of a cotton or bamboo spa-hand towel is what your face needs to be up against- not a grimy little washcloth. This is the world of difference.
Moisture-proof Basket
This will commit you to your routine by making it do-able, since everything will be accessible in a visibly appealing way. If it is out of sight, it is out of mind, and this little system is the key to success.

This is a PM Routine, but you may also choose to do it in the morning! I find most clients do not need a cleaner in the morning, but just need the hot towel and then their products, followed by SPF. I recommend skipping any foamy or oil-stripping cleanser if you have drier or aging skin for your AM Routine.
-
Try to get the water as hot as is comfortable, taking care not to burn your hands or skin, unless you have damaged or compromised skin. If you have damaged or compromised skin, you should not be using steamy towels, but you may want to book an appointment with me or your dermatologist!

Anyone with skin that should not be exposed to steam, like sunburnt or damaged skin, open wounds or skin that has been recently injected with botox or the like, should avoid this routine. Please always be safe and consult a medical professional. as I am an esthetician, not a Dermatologist.
